The Pearson Field Education Center will host a special Open Saturday event to celebrate girls and young women interested in technology and engineering.

On “Rosie Revere, Engineer” Day, participants will be introduced to the engineering design process with different discovery stations to introduce a different branch of engineering with a mini challenge. Station activities will be led by engineering students or professionals in the field. The event will also include a reading of “Rosie Revere, Engineer” for younger kids, as well as networking opportunities for older ones.

“Pearson Field Education Center strives to encourage and inspire girls to pursue activities and careers traditionally dominated by men,” said Michelle Marra, director of The Historic Trusts’s Pearson Field Education Center, in a press release. “Rosie Revere is an inventive way to convey an engineering dream to females which they can translate into their own dreams.”

The event will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Pearson Air Field, located at 201A East Reserve St. in Vancouver.
