One man was injured early Monday in a stabbing incident in downtown Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

A police statement said officers were dispatched at 4:37 a.m. to a reported assault near the intersection of Main and 13th Street.

When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a stab wound. He was transported to a hospital and was reported in stable condition later Monday.

Investigators closed off streets around the crime scene for several hours as part of the investigation, and C-Tran routes were diverted around the area.

Police do not know if the victim and suspects knew each other, and they do not know what precipitated the attack, the department said.

The suspects were described as two Hispanic males, according to police. A search of the area, including a K-9 track, was unsuccessful in locating the suspects.

The case is being investigated by the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit.
