PORTLAND — A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of southern Oregon on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake happened around 1:30 p.m. about 180 miles west of Bandon, and was about 6 miles deep, the USGS said.

The quake did not produce a tsunami warning in the Pacific Ocean.

Eugene news station KVAL reported that this is the second 4-plus magnitude earthquake near Bandon in less than a month. A 4.7 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Bandon on Feb. 8.
