Letter: Act now on climate change

By Debbie Tomasovic, Vancouver
Published: February 19, 2020, 6:00am

Clark County is abuzz with conversation and activity regarding our crucial climate action and protection. Recently, at a Vancouver City Council meeting, Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle and the council listened to dozens of teen and adult concerned citizens asking the council to adopt a Climate Action Policy that would establish a goal of being net zero with carbon emissions as soon as possible and to develop a plan to achieve this by the year 2050. Meanwhile, the 2020 Citizens’ Climate Lobby Greater Pacific Northwest Regional Conference takes place the weekend of Feb. 28 at our very own Heathman Lodge. And to add to the fun, this year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

Please lend your voice in encouraging our city council to begin the urgent planning regarding climate action, joining the discussion about climate at the CCL conference, or taking local action to celebrate Earth Day.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
