A Vancouver man was injured and a Vancouver man arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault Tuesday afternoon after a single-car crash on state Highway 500 in a rural area east of Vancouver, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A WSP bulletin said Mark E. Brandt, 60, was driving a Cadillac CTS west on the highway near Northeast 53rd Street when the vehicle went off the road, struck a pole and overturned.

A passenger in Brandt’s car,  Jason S. Mollett, 44, was injured and transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to the bulletin. Brandt was not injured and was booked into Clark County Jail on suspicion of vehicular assault.

The bulletin said alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
