RIDGEFIELD — Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is a popular annual day on the fourth Thursday each April, this year on April 23. But Ridgefield School District flipped that around for the second year in a row, allowing parents to come to school with their child. Students at all Ridgefield schools were allowed to bring their parents with them for a full or partial day of class, where the parents were able to participate with their child — some of them planning podcasts, conducting experiments or running in gym class. Union Ridge Elementary School broke the record for the highest number of parent participants, with more than 300 parents in attendance, according to a news release. Meanwhile, 200 parents visited South Ridge Elementary, where Principal Jill Neyenhouse Led a presentation on social and emotional learning. Sunset Ridge Intermediate School had 120 parents attend; View Ridge Middle School had 70; and 25 parents also attended Ridgefield High School. Parent Leslie Koch joined her son, Levi, in choir. “I love it,” she said in a news release. “I’m so glad I came.” Though Take Your Parent to School Day happens only once each year, parents are welcome as volunteers in the schools. Background checks are required, and volunteer forms can be obtained at the school office.
