A 31-year-old Vancouver man was sentenced Monday in Clark County Superior Court to six months in jail for domestic violence-related arson.

Judge Daniel Stahnke imposed the sentence against Christian Ivan De Anda Lopez for second-degree arson and burglary. De Anda Lopez was also ordered to adhere to one year of community custody.

De Anda Lopez originally faced charges of first-degree arson and malicious mischief, court records show. He pleaded guilty to the amended charges Monday and was sentenced.

A Clark County sheriff’s deputy responded around 5:30 a.m. March 24 to an apartment at 403 N.E. 63rd St. There, a woman told the deputy that her boyfriend, De Anda Lopez, had destroyed the residence while she was not at home, the affidavit said.

The deputy found that the porch had been set on fire, and there were burn marks on the north side of the apartment complex. A deck was partially scorched, a workout machine was partly melted and the outside wall was burned to the point that the paint started to bubble, according to the affidavit.

According to his statement of guilt, filed with sentencing documents, De Anda Lopez said he ignited charcoal briquettes on a grill and then kicked it over.

Fire crews reached the residence after about five neighbors had extinguished the blaze, the affidavit said.
