The office of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, is accepting submissions for her 2020 Congressional Art Competition.

The competition is open to all high school students who attend a school in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District. The winner will have their work displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building and receive free airfare to visit the ribbon-cutting ceremony in Washington, D.C., with a guest.

Second- and third-place winners may also display their work in Herrera Beutler’s office.

Submissions must be two-dimensional works, no larger than a 4-inch-deep, 26-by-26-inch square and no heavier than 15 pounds, including the frame. Accepted mediums include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, photographs and computer-generated art.

To enter, submit a photo of the piece to jhb.cac@gmail.com alongside a student release form. The deadline is April 24.

“Every year, I am amazed by the level of talent showcased, and I look forward to displaying a young Southwest Washington artist’s piece in the United States Capitol,” Herrera Beutler said in a press release.
