Letter: Make sure everyone has enough

By Willie Dickerson, Snohomish

“Service above self and enough for everyone’s need” captures the holiday spirit and is a compassionate road map for America (“Place service above self,” Our Readers’ Views, Dec. 24). Let’s make 2020 a year of enough for everyone. Call, write, or visit those who represent you in Congress and ask them to work towards that. It definitely is the opposite of cutting three-quarters of a million people from food stamps, as is currently planned.

Make sure everyone has enough to eat, a home, a quality education, heath care, and a job to keep it that way. Increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit would be a good start, and a great change for the 5 million people currently taxed into poverty. So let’s light up the phones in the halls of Congress and make sure everyone has enough in 2020.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
