Letter: Trump clearly worse than Obama

On reading Jay Ambrose’s column (“Some of Obama’s offenses were as bad as Trump’s,” Dec. 22), I am struck by something Mr. Ambrose failed to say. During the Obama administration, the Republicans controlled both the House and the Senate for six of the eight years Obama was in office. With that control comes the power to investigate and indeed, investigations occurred. However, President Obama was not impeached, no members of his Cabinet or political campaign team were indicted and none were sent to jail.

In comparison, Trump’s violations of the U.S. Constitution led to his legal and legitimate impeachment and six of Trump’s associates have been convicted of crimes. That is clear evidence that Trump’s actions are considerably worse than Obama’s.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
