LINCOLN — Camas High School student Sunny Wang received a silver medal after playing piano in the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s 26th Annual Young Artists Competition. He was one of nine student musicians who, for the final round of the competition, performed in front of an audience on Jan. 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The performance was hosted by on-air host and producer of All Classical Portland (89.9 FM), Warren Black. Finalists were judged by a blue-ribbon panel of professional musicians. Wang competed against two others in the piano category, coming in second and receiving a $1,500 scholarship. The students competed for a share of more than $15,000 of scholarship funds and the opportunity to perform a solo selection with the VSO on April 18 and 19 at Skyview Concert Hall.
