Letter: Interpreting the Bible

By Eugene Dombrowski, Vancouver

The Bible and many other religions urge everyone to love all of mankind. Is this realistic?

To answer this question it is necessary to consider the mind, because it makes all decisions. The mind is created and developed in a huge variety of circumstances and if our inquiry is to follow this direction, God’s involvement must be considered one of them.

“Everyone” must included murderers, but this cannot be. This means that murderers must be removed from the audience of Bible-readers and the religious. Or, rather, they would remove themselves.

The audience is left with the notion that God knows all and understands the circumstances and experiences that created the murderer and because of that is able to love all of mankind.

That leaves mankind to agree or disagree.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
