Just when you think that Trump could not be more callous, more self-absorbed or more unconcerned about the repercussions of his random decisions, he manages to push the bar to a new low (or high, depending on your scale).
The Iranians responded to the killing of their general by lobbing several missiles at our base in northern Iraq. At first, the report was “no injuries.” Now, however, it has been revealed that 34 service personnel have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries. Damage to the brain from a concussion can be serious and life-changing. What was Trump’s response when that report came out? “I heard they had headaches,” Mr. Trump said at a news conference in Davos, Switzerland. “I don’t consider them very serious injuries relative to other injuries I have seen.” (“Trump Dismisses Troops’ Possible Brain Injuries as ‘Headaches’,” The New York Times, Jan. 24).
Good grief. How low can this man go? He obviously does not have a compassionate bone in his body nor does he really care about our military personnel who are fighting on the front lines. All of you Trumpers out there: How proud of him are you now?
