Letter: City’s decision protects public

By Janet Weil, Portland

The city’s moratorium on bulk fossil fuel facilities helps to protect the health and safety of the city and the region. As someone living just across the Columbia River, I really appreciate that. This decision cuts climate-changing pollution. The moratorium correctly identifies the risks that major fossil fuel terminals could pose to Vancouver’s clean air, drinking water, and public safety. The policy is consistent with the Port of Vancouver’s decision not to pursue bulk fossil fuel terminals anymore.
