Letter: Council invests in future

By Sharon Sollenberger, Vancouver

Once again, thank you to the Vancouver City Council for approving a temporary six-month moratorium on all types of new bulk fossil fuels storage and handling facilities. This will keep our community safer as energy facilities are located in areas vulnerable to damage if an earthquake should hit this area. In addition it will prevent air pollution and contamination of our water supplies. Another important step would be for the council to vote to reduce emissions 10 percent, one of the goals our Legislature established. Thank you for investing in our future and being proactive.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
