Firefighters were dispatched Wednesday night to the Clark County Jail after inmates reportedly started a small fire.

Vancouver Fire Department crews responded shortly before 10 p.m. to the jail at 707 W. 13th St., according to emergency dispatch logs.

Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Brent Waddell said in an email that an inmate or inmates were upset, unwilling to lock up for the night and were able to start a small fire. Waddell did not say what had upset the inmates.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze but remained at the jail for more than two hours, according to the dispatch logs.

All inmates were medically cleared, and no one was injured, according to Waddell.
