Clark County Public Health reported 27 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Friday.

The new cases bring the county’s total number of confirmed cases to 1,632, with 37 deaths. The majority of those deaths — 22 of them — have been people 80 and older; five people who died were in their 70s; six were in their 60s; one was in their 50s; one was in their 40s; and two were in their 30s. No deaths have been reported for anyone under the age of 30. Twenty three of those who died were men; 13 were women and one was unknown.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 rose to 23 on Friday, but the number of people hospitalized awaiting tests fell to 3. Public Health reported that 4.1 percent of the licensed hospital beds are occupied by people with or awaiting tests for COVID-19.

Public Health did not report that any of the new cases were the result of an outbreak associated with any single location. Previous outbreaks have included Firestone Pacific Foods in Vancouver, with 132 confirmed cases, and Pacific Crest Building Supply in Ridgefield, with 24 confirmed cases.

The county’s infection rate, which measures the number of new cases over a two-week period, is at 99.7 per 100,000 population. That number will be updated again Monday.

Clark County remains in Phase 2 of the state’s Safe Start reopening plan. Gov. Jay Inslee announced modifications to reopening plans on Thursday as the rate of disease transmission has begun increasing statewide.
