Summer scorcher: sun, sand & social distancing

With recent temperatures nearing 100 degrees, area residents flocked to their favorite swimming holes Sunday and Monday to beat the heat. Sunday was the first 100-degree day in Vancouver in three years. Despite the crowds, Vancouver’s Calvin Clark, 17, kept social distancing in mind as he basked in the sunshine while joining his family Monday afternoon at Wintler Park. By noon, a sign notified beachgoers that the parking lot was full.

Temperatures in Clark County are forecast to be slightly cooler, but to remain in the 80s and 90s for the rest of the week.
