Letter: Herrera Beutler stays focused

By Julie Hess, Ridgefield

With emotions running high around the country, I am proud and pleased that Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, has remained one of the few reasonable and independent thinkers in our Congress. She is not afraid to stand up to anyone when it serves the best interests of Southwest Washington. Her work to preserve our region’s clean hydroelectric power, get rid of troublesome sea lions, and address the maternal mortality crisis come to mind. It is easy to hurl insults and demonize the other side. Our hometown congresswoman stays focused on the issues at home that are important to us.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
