MEDFORD, Ore. — A Central Point woman is accused of mailing at least one meth-laced greeting card to her boyfriend in the Jackson County Jail.
Kristen Ann Penry, 29, and Jason Glen Whitcanack, 40, face felony charges of supplying contraband, according to a press release issued by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
On May 20, jail staff intercepted two pieces of mail addressed to Whitcanack that tested positive for methamphetamine.
One of the pieces of mail was described in an affidavit as a greeting card, according to a court document filed in Whitcanack’s case. The cover of the greeting card tested positive for meth, corrections deputies say, as did a separate piece of paper addressed to Whitcanack.
Penry was arrested May 27 at her home in the 6900 block of Old Stage Road, according to the sheriff’s office. Details about her arrest were sealed in court records.
In addition to the supplying contraband charge, Penry faces charges of delivering and possessing methamphetamine, according to an indictment filed last week.
As of Wednesday, Penry and Whitcanack remained in the jail. Penry was held on $20,000 on the drug charges, along with a felony theft charge accusing the couple of stealing a utility trailer from property in the 5000 block of Tolo Road in February.
Whitcanack has been held in jail without bail since May 4 on the felony theft charge and a fugitive warrant out of Amador County, California, charging him with assault and meth possession.
