A Washougal woman was killed and a Camas man was seriously injured Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in the Columbia River Gorge, according to the Oregon State Police.

A state police statement said the crash occurred about 4:05 p.m. near Milepost 110 in Sherman County, Ore., when a Ford van driven west by Shannon Gatlin, 45, of Camas went into the median and overturned several times.

State police said Gatlin was transported to Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles, Ore., with serious injuries. A passenger in the van, Vickie McDowell, 52, of Washougal, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Driving under the influence of intoxicants is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash, according to the Oregon State Police.
