A garbage truck fire prompted the closure of the westbound Thurston Way offramp on state Highway 500 in Vancouver for several hours on Monday.

The fire was reported at 8:49 a.m. and put up a large plume of black smoke, according to video shared on social media.

The Washington Department of Transportation closed the ramp until about 1:50 p.m. as firefighters battled the fire and mopped up.

Information on damage or the cause was not available Monday.
