Letter: Hypocrisy is glaring

During the recent COVID-19 hysteria, readers on this page were writing letters lambasting those who were not wearing masks as being selfish, murderers and assassins. They even went so far as to say that if a maskless person catches the disease that they should not go to the hospital and burden society because they refused to wear a mask.

Fast forward to the thousands upon thousands of protestors who even CNN is showing are not only violating social distancing guidelines but often are not even wearing masks. Where is the social justice warriors’ condemnation against these folks? Aren’t they also selfish murders and assassins by engaging in these activities without wearing proper PPE protections? Apparently not, because the response has been largely silence, crickets. I will bet anyone good money that if any protestor/rioter were to catch the COVID-19 infection it would be the same social justice warriors demanding that taxpayers fund the treatment of these people. If the social justice warriors do not apply their standards to everyone then that is called hypocrisy and it is glaring.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
