The clouds that moved through Clark County helped keep our afternoon highs out of the hot category Wednesday and in the comfortable mid-70s. Tuesday was a different story with that scorching 94 degrees, the second high temperature in the 90s for us so far this season. It was hot, yes, but far from the record high of 103 degrees set in 1992.
Today we bounce back into the 80s, and Friday also. The weekend brings cooler weather and a risk of showers or thunderstorms on Sunday. Not a total washout, but this is becoming suspicious as it seems like every weekend, we get some showers and cooler weather.
At least our little bump in the road as I mentioned here on Tuesday wasn’t large enough to cause much of a negative thought locally. That 78-degree high Wednesday felt pretty good, although humidity was higher. What’s our average high for the date, you say? How about 75 degrees. As we get into July, that rises even more.
The cool trough of low pressure on tap for the weekend brings the snow level down to 6,000 feet once again in the Cascades. I know, I know, it is late June. One problem is, we don’t have a large area of high pressure anchored in the Pacific, but several areas of unsettled weather wandering around that should begin to be quiet for the summer. I would expect no sustained period of hot and dry weather or a bull’s-eye of cold and wet either. Just intrusions in the mix.
