BATTLE GROUND — More than 200 people recently attended the annual Career Day at Columbia Adventist Academy, where there were 60 representatives from a variety of jobs. Guests included Josh Harwood, an author and illustrator from Chico, Calif.; Peter McNabb, a nuclear engineer; and Jonathan Popescu, an Amazon accountant. Dale Goodson, a cultural trainer and western regional development representative from the nonprofit Adventist Frontier Missions, gave the keynote speech, “A Few Career Tips.” Then, students gathered for small 35-minute sessions with presenters, including with Brenna Wrye-Simpson, Sellwood Bicycle Repair manager, bicycle mechanic, and professional road cyclist, and Clara Honsinger, professional cyclocross cyclist and recently crowned women’s national cyclocross champion. “Students ended the day having explored six different careers in significant depth and developed great contacts for future information and potential job shadowing,” a news release stated.
