EAST VANCOUVER — Older adults can explore their music skills through a business called Jam Session, which offers classes for people to “enjoy getting their playing skills back or newly found skills playing blues and rock,” according to a news release provided by Kevin Patrick Fitzgearld, the retired music teacher who owns the business. Jam Session was first at Clark College then expanded to Mt. Hood College, continuing for 5 years before Fitzgearld decided to offer them privately. The class, which meets and plays regularly in Vancouver, has 23 students. “We perform the last Saturday of each month at The Springs Food and Spirits in Vancouver. Saturday night was standing-room only. They were blown away on how good it was,” Fitzgearld said in an email. “We do have some younger players, but a lot are retired or close and can still jam out.” Find out more at bassfitz.com.
