Letter: Not cheery about Cheers

By Harold A. Lay, Vancouver
Published: March 24, 2020, 6:00am

Regarding a couple of Cheers and Jeers (“Cheers & Jeers: Apples shine; toilet paper to-do,” The Columbian, March 14). People panic-purchase because they succumb to the power of suggestion or fall for the media hype, which in this case is just ridiculous and they are mostly selfish. “I got mine, sorry if you don’t get yours.”

As for the Cheer about elected officials listening, what happened to the city council and the removal of about 400 parking spaces along Columbia? They clearly didn’t listen to all the concerned citizens and businesses.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
