Washington dental insurance provider Delta Dental announced Friday that it will create two programs aimed at providing financial assistance to its roughly 5,000 in-network dentists. Gov. Jay Inslee’s stay-at-home order has halted all nonemergency dental procedures.

The first program will provide $10 million in grant support, ranging in size up to $15,000 per practice, for Delta network dentists who have been impacted by COVID-19 closures. The program is intended to target the hardest-hit dentists, such as those with recent education debt or those located in smaller communities.

The second program will provide advance payments of up to 25 percent of a practice’s average historical weekly reimbursement levels for an eight-week period, with a limit of $25,000 per practice, intended to help dental offices rise out the financial strain of the closure.
