Our self-proclaimed “genius” president waited until mid-March to take the COVID-19 epidemic seriously although he stated he knew about the epidemic before it was announced. China did announce a pneumonia outbreak in late December. In mid-January, the CDC announced there would be cases in the U.S. and globally. Note, this administration shuttered the CDC in China earlier in Trump’s presidency so it couldn’t report earlier information because it was no longer there. In February, he said things were under control and it was a Democratic hoax — followed by our first U.S. death on February 29. The list goes on but valuable weeks were wasted by a do nothing stance — the outbreak would not have been prevented but we would be in a much better position to remedy it if he had acted much sooner.
He needs to listen to experts and science, not his own genius — and should lead the country rather than writing Twitter tirades.
As Booker T. Washington said: “A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right, and evil doesn’t become good, just because it is accepted by a majority.”
