Letter: Bailouts are necessary evil

By George Gadbury, Vancouver

Bailouts are a necessary evil to maintain a lifestyle many Americans consider their right. Most boomers, millennials, and Gen Xers have never experienced soup lines and extreme suffering. This pandemic is not Republican or Democratic. It is simply reminding us that 1929 can occur again. Moreover, it will be ordinary everyday Americans who will conquer COVID-19, not politicians or talking heads on TV. While the elites in D.C. waste time on polemical banter, we Americans must help each other, be nice to one another, and pray that Alexa does not learn to print money for our beloved snowflakes.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
