Letter: Keep watch on Fourth Plain

As a father of a young child, I and my neighbors have increasing concern over the speed of the traffic along the western end of Fourth Plain. It is a 25-mph zone, but I can tell you it is quite rare to see someone traveling at that slow of a speed along this road.

One may wonder why we don’t just move, and that has been a subject of some discussion. We feel however, that some, if any, police presence in the area would be quite helpful in dealing with the traffic. Especially the heavy trucks which constantly scream past our house.

We have called and left messages with the Vancouver Police Department on many occasions, but not one has been acted upon. One time a person, clearly intoxicated on methamphetamines, came to our home and created quite a scene. Our hope here is that a little media coverage on the subject would provide a little motivation for the police to, well, police the area. While we’re certain there are many very conscientious officers on the force, we would appreciate a few being sent in this direction.
