Letter: The circus is performing

Trump frittered away weeks and weeks that could have been used to prepare for this pandemic, insisting that the virus is nothing to worry about, that it will go away by itself, that it’s no worse than the flu, a Democratic hoax. These lost weeks could have been used to develop and distribute tests, stock up on ventilators and other critical equipment.

Now he claims that he always knew that this would be a pandemic, long before it was called a pandemic. So he basically says that when he downplayed the severity of the virus and did nothing to prepare for the current pandemic, he did so knowingly and deliberately. Did he do that so the virus could multiply undetected throughout the country? What other reason could he have had?

We have no idea how many people are currently infected; there still aren’t enough tests available. Now that the refusal to stock up on ventilators is becoming critical, he waves away any responsibility and tells the states, “You are on your own. Don’t expect any help from me.” And then he rates himself as a 10 on a scale of 1 of 10 for his “tremendous” response.

As they say, “Elect a clown, get a circus.”
