Trump sure kept his promise to make America No. 1.
We now lead globally with the most:
• Coronavirus cases and deaths (American deaths now exceed Vietnam war losses);
• Presidential lies (currently approaching 20,000);
• Absurd presidential utterances (“The virus will magically disappear.”);
• Indefensibly delayed (and incredibly poor) virus response;
• Government positions unfilled;
• Allies insulted;
• Enemies and dictators praised;
• Flagrant abuse of power;
• Dangerous ignorance of science and facts (climate, endangered species);
• Anti-American claims (“The free press is the enemy”);
• Backward, harmful ideas (de-fund WHO, increase coal, ingest or inject disinfectants);
• Underlings fired for not blindly praising Trump;
• Self-serving distortion of the Constitution;
• Important, needed regulations and offices gutted (emissions limits, EPA, pandemic office);
• Presidential associates indicted for federal crimes;
• Brazen tax cuts for the wealthiest, paid for by the poorest.
Trump’s lemmings think this makes us “Great Again.” Those with critical-thinking skills (which Republicans once vowed to remove from public education) know it only shames us.
Now another recession looms (as always, under a Republican). If Mr. Ego’s name is on stimulus checks and you get one, scratch it out.
After Trump is gone, can America repair her reputation? Given the damage done, it’s questionable.
