Letter: Let citizens decide the risks

Governor Inslee, it’s time to open Clark County! Our risk of death from COVID-19 in Clark County is now extremely low. Inslee wants us to open in phases that will occur at a glacial rate. The private sector can’t function in the same time frame as government. Businesses need to open within days, not weeks or months. Delays mean more businesses and families will suffer. We have all sacrificed our freedoms to fight this virus. Now we want our normal lives back! We are intelligent enough to decide how to live our lives and how to mitigate the risk of infection. We need to regain our right to work, to support our families, to interact with others and to exercise other freedoms given to us in our Constitution. At this point, our basic constitutional rights are being denied by politicians who are inflicting their opinions and ideologies upon us. If we continue to allow them to control our lives, we will lose those precious rights. Our county will suffer the consequences of this shutdown for years to come. We need to demand the restoration of our basic rights now — not in prolonged phases. Wake up, Clark County!
