Letter: Worthy of the Trump brand

I wish to thank Gary Crane for his letter to the editor (“Syndrome sufferers are entertaining,” Our Readers’ Views, May 7). I really love his Trump Derangement Syndrome. I believe that the TDS should be in the DSM-5 diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, taking the place of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Some of the symptoms include:

• Grandiose sense of self-importance.

• Living in a fantasy world that supports their delusions of grandeur.

• Need for constant praise and admiration.

• Sense of entitlement.

• Exploiting others without guilt or shame.

Frequently demeaning, intimidating, bullying, or belittling others.

As anyone can see, these traits are certainly present in our current president. One can now understand his statement in late January: “We have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country”; or on March 6 while touring the CDC: “Anybody that wants a test can get a test.”

I believe Trump is the epitome of the illness I call Trump Derangement Syndrome.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
