Letter: Herrera Beutler doesn’t have plan

Jaime Herrera Beutler touts the fact that she supports a bill to allow Americans to buy cheaper drugs from Canada. That is attacking the problem of high drug prices from the wrong end. Canada provides drugs at a fraction of the cost because they have a government review board that negotiates drug prices. If the board considers the price too high, they won’t pay. Faced with the loss of the entire Canadian market, manufacturers give in. Rather than putting a Band-Aid on a broken system, we need to fix it. But despite repeatedly voting to end the Affordable Care Act, Herrera Beutler and the Republicans don’t have any real health care plan.
