Letter: Trump has no sense of decency

Recently, President Trump, during a rally in Michigan, stated that doctors were lying about the cause of deaths of patients, attributing them to the coronavirus for profit. These are the doctors, nurses and health professionals who risk their lives every day to protect us, the American citizens. This is probably one of the most abhorrent things he has said about those who have sacrificed so much for others.

It reminded me of a time in 1954, when Sen. Joseph McCarthy continued to malign the reputation of Americans that ruined lives of public servants.

To quote the chief counsel for the U. S. Army, Mr. Joseph N. Welch: “Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
