Troopers say two people were injured Thursday morning when a car crashed into a Washington State Department of Transportation work truck that was directing traffic on Interstate 5 south of Woodland.

The crash was reported shortly after 9 a.m. near Milepost 19, according to Washington State Patrol.

A gray 2019 Toyota RAV 4 was traveling north on I-5 and failed to merge right. It struck the rear of a white 2020 WSDOT work truck with flashing merge right arrows in the left lane, a state patrol crash memo says.

Both drivers were taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as Emilie J. Edgley, 28, of Vancouver, was charged with negligent driving, troopers said.

The Toyota was totaled and towed from the scene. The WSDOT truck had reportable damage, the crash memo states.
