Meals on Wheels People still needs 200 volunteers to make calls to home-bound elderly on Thanksgiving as part of the Friendly Chats program. Volunteers will visit seniors just to chat, providing face-to-face contact to reduce social isolation among the elderly. In addition to Thanksgiving Day Friendly Chatters, Meals on Wheels People is recruiting bilingual volunteers who would like to become regular Friendly Chatters. In addition to Spanish, Russian and Mandarin Chinese, volunteers who speak Vietnamese, Hmong, Farsi and other languages are encouraged to apply. To volunteer, go to mowp.org/volunteer.

Dorothy Fox PTA is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser through January. Dorothy Fox PTA will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used, and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit the school’s educational needs. Funds raised will help provide enhanced educational opportunities, special programs, and events to Fox students while supporting dedicated teachers and staff. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes to Dorothy Fox Elementary. For more information visit www.dorothyfoxpta.com/shoe-drive-fundraiser.
