America is in a war to combat the growing number of coronavirus deaths. Many of our previous war deaths are being outnumbered by this pandemic.
Previous war casualties are as follows:
World War I (1917-1918) killed 53,402 Americans in combat.
World War II (1941-1945) killed 291,557 Americans in combat.
Korean War (1950-1953) killed 36,574 Americans in combat.
Vietnam War (1964-1975) killed 58,220 Americans total. In less than a year, COVID-19 deaths have surpassed 242,000, quadruple the number killed during this 12-year Vietnam War.
COVID-19 snuck up on many of us and some did not even give it serious thought. Fortunately, some of our most diligent scientists kept giving advice on how to slow down this pandemic.
Simple precautions like social distancing and wearing masks have helped. With the winter months approaching and the flu season beginning, much more needs to be accomplished. Viable vaccines will help slow down the death rate. America also needs a vision to combat this enemy. Our future president must combat this coronavirus.
