RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield School District schools went online this year with their Veterans Day assemblies. Classes used the events to spark discussion about military service and remembrance. Students gave interviews with families in the military, and showed their artwork, research projects and patriotic music. Students at Union Ridge Elementary School created a video showing military family members, including some who had generations of military service. Original artwork was displayed at Seasons Coffee Shop. South Ridge Elementary School designed a slideshow to educate students on the meaning of Veterans Day. Sunset Ridge Intermediate School and View Ridge Middle School leadership students worked together to create an interactive presentation for an online assembly. “These moving presentations were a reminder to thank the veterans we know and to honor those who have passed. Many thanks to the students and teachers who helped mark this special day,” a news release said.
