Vancouver company fined for failure to enforce mask use

The Columbian
Published:

Vancouver tire company Hwy 99 Tire Center LLC was fined $4,500 by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries for failing to enforce employee or customer mask use, and lacking a written safety program, according to an L&I news release Friday.

The business did not appeal the fine, the press release stated.

Hwy 99 Tire Center is one of 20 businesses cited for mask violations since June. In October, L&I received more than 1,300 complaints about businesses not enforcing mask use rules with their employees and customers, according to the news release. In the last week, the number of new complaints tripled.

Most of the companies L&I contacted agreed to follow requirements without the state taking formal action, but a small number have not, the news release stated.
