Letter: America has wounds to heal

I would not want to venture a guess on who won or lost the first presidential debate but I can tell you that America lost. The debates are supposed to allow Americans to assess the qualifications of the candidates by virtue of their answers to questions concerning the issues facing this nation; and there are many. This debate was a circus, a farcical display of schoolyard-bully tactics and taunts. It was almost too horrible to watch.

This is the saddest period of time in American history. We have become a nation without direction and leadership. I pray that America will be able to heal from the wounds inflicted by the Trump administration.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
