Four people were injured Friday in a three-car crash on Lewis River Road in south Cowlitz County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A WSP bulletin said the crash occurred at 2:45 p.m. near Milepost 47 when a 2017 Ram pickup driven by Zachary J. Ramey, 31, of Woodland crashed into the rear of a 2004 Honda Element, driven by Crystal K. Johnston, 39, of Ariel, that had stopped while a 1994 Toyota pickup, driven by Eldon J. Matteer, 18, of Woodland by was waiting to turn left onto Reno Cut Off Road.

The impact of the crash propelled Johnson’s car into Matteer’s pickup, causing it to roll on its side, according to the WSP bulletin.

Johnson was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, as was a 9-year-old passenger in her vehicle, Eva Johnston. A second passenger in the vehicle, Finn Johnston, 9, was transported by LifeFlight to Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland.

Matteer was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver.

Ramey, who was not injured, will be cited with second degree negligent driving, according to the WSP bulletin.
