Letter: Protect children, approve R-90

In 2018, 7 percent of eighth-graders, 23 percent of 10th-graders, and 51 percent of 12th-graders in Clark County reported that they have had sex. Also, 11 percent of eighth-graders, 17 percent of 10th-graders, and 25 percent of 12th-graders reported being forced into unwanted kissing, sexual touch, or intercourse.

Our youth need the protection that comprehensive sexual health education can provide. Give them medically accurate, age-appropriate information, and teach them how to set and respect boundaries. Make it available in all public schools. Approve R-90 to protect our children.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
