Clark Public Utilities is warning customers to be on the lookout for scam callers. The agency has learned that scammers have been targeting customers and threatening to cut off their service unless they immediately pay a fee, according to media specialist Dameon Pesanti.

Those messages are not coming from the utility, Pesanti said, and in fact Clark Public Utilities is currently not doing any service disconnections due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Customers can call 360-992-3000 to check the status of their account.

“If customers get a call from anyone threatening to shut off their power, no matter how convincing the caller is, the customer should hang up and call us right away,” he said.
