Letter: All laws should be enforced

Regarding “In Our View: I-1639 passes test, so time to enforce the law” (The Columbian, Sept. 4): So, I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s time to enforce vagrancy laws and force cities to deal with and clean up homeless camps. And of course you would agree that it’s time to enforce laws against rioting, looting, the defacing and destruction of public and private buildings and property, as well as assault on police and citizens.

And it would absolutely go without saying that you would agree that it’s time to enforce immigration laws and laws prohibiting harboring fugitives vis-a-vis sanctuary cities.

You cannot pick and choose which laws and parts of the Constitution you want to enforce and maintain a civil society.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
