Letter: GOP undermines safeguards

By Wiley McCallum, Camas
Published: September 25, 2020, 6:00am

Let’s not pretend that McConnell and Trump are just trying to steal a seat on the Supreme Court in order to strike down Roe v. Wade. The goal is much larger. It’s also to make sure that mother and child do not have health insurance. To make sure that America’s working class becomes serfs. To make sure that employers have no responsibility to their employees. To make sure that there is no longer collective bargaining, or a livable minimum wage. If you want to find out what “Make America Great Again” means read Sinclair’s “The Jungle” and Norris’ “The Octopus.”

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
