Clark County reported 92 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths on Wednesday as disease activity continues to rise, according to Clark County Public Health.

The fatalities were a man and a woman in their 60s with underlying conditions, according to Public Health. Their deaths bring Clark County’s total to 257 deaths to date. There have been five deaths recorded this week, up from last week’s total of three deaths and the previous week’s total of four deaths.

Deaths are added to the county’s total 10-12 days after they occur, according to Public Health.

The new cases include 80 cases confirmed with molecular (PCR) testing, pushing the county’s total to 21,181 confirmed cases to date, and 12 new probable cases diagnosed with faster but less accurate antigen testing, pushing that total to 957 cases to date.

Public Health said infections are rising in all age groups, with the sharpest increase among young adults age 20 through 49.

The number of active cases, which tracks both confirmed and probable cases still in their isolation period, rose to 656 on Wednesday, up from 646 on Tuesday, according to Public Health data.

Hospitalizations rose Wednesday, with 37 people hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 31 on Tuesday, and two people hospitalized awaiting test results, down from four on Tuesday, according to Public Health data.

Anyone age 16 or older is eligible to be vaccinated, and Public Health announced Tuesday that its Tower Mall vaccination site will continue to offer vaccination without an appointment as supplies last. That site, which will give priority to those with appointments, is open Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.

The county has been allocated 9,960 first doses and 3,540 second doses to administer through May 2, not counting vaccines distributed directly to pharmacies through the federal retail pharmacy program.

To schedule an appointment in Clark County, including at pharmacies and mass vaccination sites, visit the Washington Department of Health Vaccine Locator.

Those who do not have internet access or need help scheduling an appointment can call Public Health from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 888-225-4625. Call center representatives can assist with scheduling. Language assistance is available.
