Letter: Harless’ approach pays off

Tuesday’s election results show money doesn’t buy elections. Over $30 was spent on each vote in John Blom’s campaign for City Council Position 1, compared to under $2 by opponent Kim Harless. In 2015, David Madore spent $15 on each vote and lost his primary. Madore and Blom have million dollar smiles and oversized bank accounts, but lack a vision representing all of us.

Blom’s high-cost robocalls/texts, and glossy mailers fell flat. Kim Harless had boots on the ground, waving signs, door knocking, leading phone banks that won votes.

Today a people-powered movement supporting a passionate candidate won the primary against a special-interest backed elite. Kim Harless is the change Vancouver, and this country needs.
